September signals the start of new chapters: students have gone back to school, the fall season is just around the corner, and new career opportunities are available at SERJobs. If people are interested in taking advantage of SERJob’s occupational training opportunities, they must make sure to submit their application in advance! This can be done through our website or if you visit our Workforce Opportunity Center located at 1710 Telephone Road, Houston, Texas 77023, our friendly staff will direct applicants to a computer in our lobby to fill out the online application. After the application is completed, SERJobs staff will reach out to applicants within 1-2 business days to walk through program eligibility requirements and send over paperwork that needs to be completed before they are enrolled. Once applicants complete all required forms they become SERJobs Members and are assigned to one of our knowledgeable Career Coaches. SERJobs Career Coaches guide Members through every step of training, including checking in, listening to any concerns Members might have, and identifying additional opportunities to enhance their professional skills. The month kicks off with Commercial Driver’s License Training, on Tuesday, September 7. On Monday, September 13, not one, not two, but three training programs begin at SERJobs: Electrician (Level 1), Information Communications Technician, and SER Banking Training. Customer Service and our new Call Center Technician Training begins Monday, September 20. And did you know? All Members who complete our Call Center Technician Training receive a free computer! At the end of the month on Monday, September 27, Warehouse Forklift Training begins—all Members enrolled for this training will be prepared to take the OSHA Forklift Certification at the end of the course. Do you know anyone who could use a new direction for their career? Share this list with them!
