Chris Valka

Chief Operations Officer

Serving as the Chief Operations Officer, Chris Valka is responsible for the performance of direct services to our members, from entry to employment.  Prior to his service at SERJobs, Chris served as an educator for over 25 years, in both secondary and post-secondary settings.  He holds a BA in Communications from St. Edward’s University, Masters in Education from Canisius College, Masters in Divinity from the University of Toronto, and is a proud alumnus of Leadership Houston. As a former Roman Catholic Priest, Chris has lived and worked in multiple countries, specializing in the intersection of technology and spirituality.  In 2017, Chris returned back to his hometown of Houston, where he is now a husband and stepfather to two young children. In his free time, Chris volunteers his time to community organizations and his kids’ school. In the pre-dawn hours of the day, he is often running or reading, both of which provide him time to reflect on both the needs and joys of his life and work.
