The HVACR training program provides a comprehensive education in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter the HVACR industry and contribute to the design, installation, and maintenance of efficient and sustainable HVACR systems, meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving field.
Course Details
The HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) Level 1 training program is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the HVACR industry. The training covers a broad range of topics, including heating and cooling systems, ventilation, refrigeration, and energy efficiency. Participants will gain practical hands-on experience and theoretical understanding to excel in this dynamic and in-demand field.
Certifications/Credentials Earned:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn their industry-recognized NCCER Core Construction, OSHA 10, NCCER HVACR Level 1, and EPA Certification.
Training Schedule:
This course is eight (8) weeks long as follows:
- Job Readiness Training: 1 week, M-F 9am-12pm, virtual/online
- NCCER CORE Construction: 2 weeks, M-F 9am-4pm, (in-person)
- NCCER HVACR Level 1: 5 weeks, M-F 9am-4pm, (in person)
Skills Covered
- HVACR installation and service techniques
- Trade mathematics
- Basic electricity
- Installation and servicing furnaces
- Service of cooling and heat pump systems
- Recognize deficiencies in air distribution systems
- Piping system assembly
- Soldering and brazing techniques
- Cut, thread, and join steel pipes
Requirements / Eligibility
- Have a computer or tablet with microphone and camera access (to take the virtual element of the classes)
- Have access to reliable internet connection
- Authorized to work
- Possess basic computer skills
All members will be screened for eligibility prior to taking the class.
- Must be a resident of the City of Houston
- Must be 18 or older
- No sex offenses on criminal background check
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Low-to-middle income (must show proof of income documentation)
- Self-certification may be required for unemployed applicants
