PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Students are trained to excel in today’s digital workforce! Customer service, call center training, typing skills, Microsoft Office skills, digital literacy, and how to navigate the workplace like a professional are all covered in this 4-week course.

TRAINING DETAILS

This training combines virtual and in-person classes to master customer service and sales skills, including understanding the customer life cycle, developing effective strategies to engage customers, assessing customer needs, and closing sales.

Over four weeks, this training will help improve your computer skills and prepare you to enter the job market armed with digital skills in an industry that is thriving in Houston. The learner will be able to deliver outstanding customer service, both in person and over the phone, which is the ultimate goal of retail and service brands. Get employed as Call center technicians, Customer service support specialists, Call center support in jobs that offer flexible hours and workstyles.

EARNED CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS

This training will prepare students to take the exam to receive the Customer Service RISE UP Credential from the National Retail Federation.

Skills Covered

Overview of the retail industry: understanding the industry, the customer and the value of customer service
Know before you sell: knowing the features and benefits of products and services, connecting with the customer
Selling and service: meeting the customer’s needs, making the sale
Performing your best: honing customer service skills, projecting a professional image and personal brand
Improve your general computer skills
Gain a detailed understanding of Microsoft Office Platforms
Learn how to navigate job searches and build a professional network

REQUIREMENTS

Must have completed a Job Readiness training prior to starting this course
A computer, desktop, laptop, or tablet with a microphone and camera to take virtual classes
A keyboard to practice typing exercises
Basic computer skills (you will take a quick test)
Must have a valid ID and Social Security card
Authorization to work in the USA
No sex offender records.
18 years of age and above

ELIGIBILITY

Proficiently read, write, and speak English.
Some criminal backgrounds accepted.
Be able to pass a drug test.
Score above a 6th-grade reading level on a test administered by SER, free of charge.
Have a High School Diploma or GED.
Have basic computer skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
